What a weekend at Boat of Garten!! One of the busiest I can remember in my time here in terms of the amount of people playing the course.
The highlight however has to be an amazing hole-in-one at the ninth by Mr John Inglis. As you will see from the photograph opposite, courtesy of Mr Christopher Helik, John was extremely happy with his achievement. I am sure the Bar Staff and his beloved wife Val will also testify as to just how happy he was for the rest of the day and allegedly most of the night as well.
Congratulations John!!
Annual Customer Survey
As you may have seen previously, I am running my Annual Customer Survey on the website. This survey will be used to help me improve the services I offer you in store. Not only that, but if there are brands which you are looking to buy but do not to see in store then this is your chance to say!
I would like to use this part of my newsletter to ask you, if you haven't already done so, to spare five minutes of your time to complete this survey - simply click here. It will not only be an asset to me, but it will also be of huge benefit to you, my customers. As an incentive, one lucky entrant will win a dozen balls of their choice from the pro shop. My thanks in advance.
September Medal
At Boat of Garten on Saturday the men enjoyed ideal conditions in the morning for the September medal during which John Inglis scored a hole-in-one at the par three ninth hole, no doubt impressing his playing partners Chris Helik, who had a birdie, and David Housby, who could only manage par! Inglis went on to score 66 to win section 2 by seven strokes from Darren Thomas who edged out Charlie Edward and Steven French who all scored 73.
In section 1, Mark McDonald set the early target with 70 but was soon overtaken by David Housby's 69 which held the lead until the late starters. Playing in steady rain Rory Simpson matched the 69 but it was Ronnie Kinnaird's fine round of 68 which took the prize in deteriorating conditions of rain and poor light.
Ladies' Monthly Medal
The competitive week had begun on Wednesday with the Ladies' Monthly Medal. Margaret Thompson signed for a 70 to win the Silver section, confirming her recent consistent play and earning a cut in handicap. Runner-up was Caroline Bashford with 74, although both players could have finished so much better after they each dropped several strokes at the par five 13th spoiling otherwise very good rounds. In the Bronze section new member Thelma Archer took the spoils with 74, just ahead of Jean Watt, runner-up in the same event last year.
Men's Midweek Stableford
Winner of last Thursday's stableford was D Ross with a round of 39 points. In second, two points further back on 37, was C Helik with D thomas taking third on 36 points.
