Another busy week at the Boat that included the weekly members' competitions, groups of visitors enjoying the course and the highlight, a Callaway Fitting Day.
I must say a massive thank you to Callaway Golf for providing this service and to Ewan from Callaway for looking after everyone and imparting his vast array of club fitting knowledge on to everyone that came along.
The feedback I have had since has been very positive and this is definitely something I would like to host more of in the future.
I still have a small range of Callaway demo clubs if anyone that wasn't able to attend the day would like to try out the range.
One service that I provide is Battery Testing. This service is becoming more popular as people suffer problems with their electric trolley while out on the course. It is always worth getting your battery checked even if you are happy with the performance of your trolley as it can give you an indication of when you may need to renew your battery. For the next month I will have a Special Offer for Battery Testing available:
Normal Battery Test - £10 (Cost redeemable against new battery if required)
Special Offer (until 30/09/14) - 50% OFF (Cost redeemable against new battery if required)
Contact us here if you are interested in this Special Offer, or come and see us in store.
Last week Bruce Murray and David Ross represented the Club in the Qualifying Round of the annual Belhaven Best Club Handicap Championship at Aboyne GC. Their better ball score was a level par 68, putting them in a creditable 15th place of the 54 Clubs entered but finishing 2 strokes away from qualifying for next month's Grand Final at Roxburghe.
Dalvoult Cup
At Boat of Garten on Saturday the men competed for the Dalvoult Cup, a Stableford competition. The good conditions produced some solid scoring and a CSS of 70. Early starter David Ross (10) produced a steady round for 37 points but playing partner Ronnie Kinnaird (7) set the target for the rest of the field with a fine inward half and 40 points. It wasn't until the last players home that the clubhouse leader was challenged, firstly by in-form John MacBean (11) with 37 points and finally by John Inglis (14) who, despite not scoring at the 18th, came home with 41 points to pip Kinnaird for the trophy and earn a cut in handicap.
Ladies' Monthly Medal
In the Ladies' monthly medal the Silver Section (0-20) scores came down to a countback with Margaret Thompson edging out Ann Carter after both finished on 74. The Bronze section (21-36) was more clear-cut with Myra McLachlan's 83 taking the prize ahead of Jane Wallace on 91.
Men's Thursday Stableford - 21st August
Last Thursday's Men's Stableford (CSS 71) was won by J.R. Rodgers (9) with 39 points. This was good enough to win by two points, ahead of second placed D.W. Ross (11). J.R. Thompson (12) came in third with 34 points with D. Thomas (17) taking fourth with his 32 points.
Well done to all of our competition winners this week!
